In 1983 Cape Mentelle won the coveted Jimmy Watson Memorial Award for the best one year old dry red wine,
and cemented its position as a premium wine maker with another win in 1984.
Our Cabernet Sauvignon is now widely regarded as one of Australia’s leading cabernets.

SAUVIGNON BLANC SEMILLON- Taking a minimalist approach towards this classis Margaret River blend, we aim to preserve as much fruit intensity and regional character as possible while providing a full-flavoured, distinctive white wine. Vibrant freshness from the sea, aromatic complexity of the grapes, this typical Margaret River wine has become one of the most praised wine in Australia for a relaxing evening.

CHARDONNAY- This Cape Mentelle Chardonnay style draws inspiration from the most traditional Burgundian methods to produce a wine displaying aromatic complexity and a fine, textured palate with a long, rich finish. Our chardonnay is made to go from aperitif to cheeseboard and is perfect for cellar ageing. Harmony of intense citrus, apricot, toast and hazelnuts flavors in the firmly closed tastes presents wonderful rich complexity.

CABERNET MERLOT- Seeking to capture the depth and structure of Cabernet with the plummy flavours of Merlot, this blend gets inspiration from the classic Bordeaux red wines. The structure is fine with grapey soft tannins providing great length and intensity of favour balanced by a subtle mix of roasted spices. Medium to full bodied with sweet ripe fruits of mulberry, plums and currants it is better enjoyed with a group of friends.

SHIRAZ- Cape Mentelle’s Shiraz takes inspiration from the techniques and wines of France’s Northern Rhône Valley. The fruit is destemmed, berry sorted, cold soaked and traditionally fermented. Maturation in small barriques is aimed at retaining the refined fruit and floral characters of the variety along with the more savoury, spicy elements derived from our vineyards in Margaret River.
