Cheval des Andes is the joint venture between Château Cheval Blanc,
Premier Grand Cru Classé A of Saint-Emilion, and Terrazas de los Andes.
Originally, Pierre Lurton, President of Château Cheval Blanc,
sought out a special international terroir in which to apply
the storied blending heritage of the French Château.

Argentinean expression of Château Cheval Blanc,
Premier Grand Cru Classé A of Saint-Emilion,
Cheval des Andes transcends national origin and validates Argentina credentials
as icon wine producer along with winemaking credentials of Cheval Blanc.
More than 50 years of French tradition,
combined with Terrazas de los Andes terroir and winemaking expertise,
proving this wine to be the best exponent of the French-Argentine style,
Cheval is "the perfect assemblage reborn".

  • Cheval des Andes

Our wine is made up of five varieties: four varieties still used in assemblage in France - Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot & Petit Verdot, and one variety, originally from France, brought to Argentina by Michel Pouget before the occurrence of the phylloxera plague in Europe: Malbec.
The proportions of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon vary subtly every year – just as, at Château Cheval Blanc, no two vintages contain exactly the same proportions of Cabernet Franc and Merlot.
The objective, however, remains the same: to produce an Argentinian wine worthy of its noble Saint-Emilion heritage – the Grand Cru of the Andes, distinguished by freshness, elegance and exceptional potential for ageing.
